The Gold Coast is located on the
South East Coast of Queensland in Australia.
Around 10 million tourists visit
the Gold Coast area every year: of 849,114 international visitors, 3,468,000
domestic overnight visitors and 5,366,000 daytrip visitors. Tourism is the
regionís biggest industry, directly contributing more than $4.4 billion into the
city economy every year and directly accounting for one in four jobs in the
city. There are approximately 65,000 bed spaces, 60 kilometres of beach, 600
kilometres of canal, 100,000 hectares of nature reserve, 500 restaurants, 40
golf courses and 5 major theme parks in the city.

Gold Coast Tourism Corporation are working together to develop a
Destination Tourism Management Plan (DTMP) which
develops strategies to improve and
grow the city's tourism economy and set a future direction for Tourism up to the
2018 Commonwealth games and on to 2023.
The City of Gold Coastís Accessible and Inclusive
City Action Plan is about removing barriers and improving access to City
operations. The Plan seeks to enhance the lifestyle and wellbeing of all
residents and visitors, regardless of age or ability.
